The Celtic-Style Eucharist at The Cathedral Church of Saint Paul the Apostle was initiated by the late Helene Mann, who was the first female priest to be ordained by The Right Rev. Dr. Penelope Jamieson, formerly Bishop of Dunedin. Helene held a Masters Degree in Celtic Christianity from the University of Wales and was an expert on Celtic ceremonies and history. This Eucharist is a unique celebration; it is held in the Crypt, typically at 12:10, on selected Fridays throughout the year. Upcoming service information may be found on the front page of the cathedral website. The prominent use of candles is a feature through which this service typically expresses the essence of Celtic spirituality.
