The Right Reverend Dr Steven Benford (Bishop), Acting Dean
The Reverend Barbara Dineen, Priest Assistant
Ondine Godtschalk, Executive Assistant
Vacancy: Dean of the Cathedral Church o f St Paul the Apostle, Dunedin.
The Bishop of Dunedin, along with the Cathedral and Diocesan Nominators, is looking to appoint a leader with a pastoral, liturgical, administrative and strategic heart as the next Dean of the Cathedral Church of St Paul the Apostle, Dunedin.
Given our central location in this University City we offer fantastic opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in commercial, educational, tourist and parish settings. We recognise the centrality of worship, and seek to maintain this foundation of the Christian life. Appreciating the beauty of both the New Zealand Prayer Book and the Book of Common Prayer, we have a willingness to engage with a variety of expressions of worship.
The Cathedral has a long and distinguished musical history, with an accomplished choir, and has a strong commitment to high quality music. The Dean is responsible for an Assistant Priest and Distinctive Deacon (both self-supporting), two Lay Ministers, an Executive Administrative Assistant and two part-time Vergers.
Dunedin is home to approx. 130,000 residents and NZ’s oldest university of 20,000 students at the University of Otago. Our City also benefits from a vibrant and innovative business community and ready access to abundant wildlife and wilderness opportunities.
In common with all Diocesan appointments, the Bishop is looking to appoint priests who both practice and model the disciplines of prayer and bible reading, and who seek to live out the risen life of Jesus Christ. This post is open to any Priest in Anglican Orders who is entitled to live and work in New Zealand.
